Why Do My Wireless Earbuds Keep Disconnecting?
Share
Dropouts are almost never a faulty earbud. Most of the time it's one of a handful of common causes, and most of those are a two-minute fix.
The Most Common Causes
- Low battery, in the earbud or the case. Bluetooth connections get unstable before a battery fully dies, not just after.
- Range and obstructions. Walls, machinery, and metal sheeting all weaken a Bluetooth signal well before you hit the earbud's max range.
- Interference. Wi-Fi routers, other Bluetooth devices, and some power tools all run on similar frequencies and can clash.
- A pairing glitch on your phone. Software updates, cached pairing data, and other paired devices nearby can all cause it.
- Dirty charging contacts. If the case isn't charging the buds fully, you'll get random dropouts that look like a connection issue but are actually a battery issue.
Why "Multipoint" Confusion Causes Dropouts
Multipoint means an earbud can stay connected to two devices at once and switch between them automatically, like your phone and your laptop. PureBuds Pro runs Bluetooth 5.4 on a JL6976 chipset, but it doesn't support multipoint. If you're jumping between two devices, it can look like the earbuds are randomly disconnecting when really they're just connected to the wrong one. You'll need to manually switch the connection each time, not let it guess.
Quick Fixes That Solve Most Dropouts
- Forget the device and re-pair. Clears out most software-side glitches in one go.
- Update your phone's software. Bluetooth bugs get patched more often than people expect.
- Stay well within range. Don't push right to the edge of the spec sheet number if you can help it.
- Clean the charging contacts. Covered in full in how to clean wireless earbuds without wrecking them.
- Charge fully before a long day. Obvious, but it's the most common cause by far.
When It's Actually a Hardware Issue
If one earbud specifically keeps cutting out after you've tried all of the above, it's worth re-pairing both earbuds together from scratch before assuming it's hardware. If it keeps happening after that, get in touch. We're Aussie owned and the founder answers his own emails, so you're not stuck waiting on an overseas support queue.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does only one earbud keep cutting out?
Usually it's a connection or battery issue with that specific bud. Re-pair both earbuds together first, then get in touch if it keeps happening.
Can Wi-Fi interfere with Bluetooth earbuds?
Yes, especially older routers and busy worksites running a lot of wireless gear at once. If you're after a fuller buying breakdown, see do noise cancelling earbuds actually work on job sites.
Do PureBuds Pro support multipoint connection?
No. They connect to one device at a time, so if you're switching between your phone and laptop, you'll need to reconnect manually each time rather than relying on it to switch automatically.
